Stalk Nitrate Test Information:

 

For those growers that are enrolled in the Conservation Stewardship program,

stalk nitrate testing may be required. Wiles Brothers will be glad to assist you

with the proper knowledge for sample collection as well as the lab for analysis.

 

1 .Proper timing for collection is 1 to 3 weeks after 80% or more of the kernels are Black Layer.

2. Cut an 8 inch stalk section out of the plant beginning 6” above soil surface.

3. Collect stalk sections from 15 different plants in 10 acre increments.

4. Use only stalks that are in good condition

5. Go to https://www.midwestlabs.com/subforms/subform.php?form_name=stalk_nitrate

    and fill out submittal form for each sample.

6. Put sample in paper bag with submittal form and drop off at Wiles Brother’s Office or to
